Bio of Mr. Samson Tarpeh
Samson Tarpeh was born and raised in Liberia. He is an accomplished pianist and community developer. He is the
founder and executive director of the Agape National Academy of Music (ANAM) in Monrovia, Liberia. ANAM is
a nonprofit Christian organization based in Monrovia, Liberia. ANAM uses music and other art-related programs to
bring healing, hope, and spiritual development to the children of Liberia. It provides training in worship and arts
leadership, developing young indigenous Liberians who would become leaders in the music programs of local
churches in Monrovia.
Samson has dedicated his career toward the rebuilding of Liberia through arts education and community
development. He has been in the United States the past five years studying to return to Liberia to be a leader. He
received a bachelor of public administration degree from the African Methodist Episcopal University, in Liberia, in
2009, a bachelor of arts in music, piano performance from Campbellsville University, in Campbellsville, Kentucky,
in 2014, and a master of science degree in community and leadership development from University of Kentucky, in
2017. He is a member of the community development society, music teachers’ national association, Kentucky music
teachers’ association, national association for music educators, hymn society in the US and Canada, continuing the
conversation of the arts in education program at harvard graduate school of education, and artists in Christian
testimonies intl.
He is a former pianist of the First United Methodist Church of Monrovia, former minister of music of Providence
Baptist Church of Monrovia, former director of music of United Methodist University of Monrovia, and former
director of music of the Lott Carey Baptist Mission School, in Brewerville, Liberia. He is former pianist of Pleasant
Run Baptist Church, Campbellsville, Kentucky; More Grace Ministries, Louisville, KY, Wesley United Methodist
Church, Lexington, KY, and Jimtown Baptist Church, Lexington, Kentucky. He is currently director of music and
community outreach at Lord of Glory Fellowship, and pianist at Hill Chapel Baptist Church, both in Athens, GA.
