The Scholarship Assistance Program (SAP) remains the most viable and impactful contribution
of the University of Liberia Alumni Chorus to supporting academic excellence in Liberia. Each
semester, the SAP pays for registration and tuition for deserving students, and provides them
with stipends to assist with other basic school supplies and materials.
It is no doubt that education is and always will be the key that unlocks the doors of ignorance
and exposes one to the world of possibilities. We are all witnesses to this truth. We are who we
are because we had the opportunity not just to go to school, but to attend college and acquire
skill sets that propelled us beyond college, for the world of work, career and service.
We want this very experience to be true of the many young men and women of Liberia, who
are evidently the future and continuity of the nation.
Therefore, our scholarship program is our attempt to bridge the gap between the academic
ambitions and aspiration and their lack of financial ability to support their drive, vision, and
dream to becoming people of value and substance. Our gift is jump-start to each academic
semester and a hope we have for the children of Liberia; ensuring that their tomorrow can be
better than their yesterday.
Over the last couple of years since our formation, we have contributed nearly $20,000.00 to the
University of Liberia, for scholarship and other academic activities. To date, we have sponsored
a total of 58 students through our Scholarship Assistance Program. There are currently 13
students on scholarship this academic semester making it a total of 26 students this academic
year. In 2016, one student received the ULAC Academic Excellence Award of $500.00, for
attaining the highest GPA within the UL Chorus. This again, is our attempt to encourage and
motivate students for excellence. We want to do more. Our team in Liberia has embarked on
intentional marketing and awareness building strategies to reach many more students about
the opportunity we are offering. We hope many students will seek these opportunities to
better themselves for the future.
